27th Annual Monterey Historic Automobile Races

The Monterey Historic Races at Laguna Seca has turned into one of the world's premiere sports car events. Not just the track and paddock are full of beautiful, fast and significant cars. The entire Monterey area seems infused with stunning sports cars for this one magical weekend every year. Most importantly the cars are seen, driven, heard and not locked away in a museum somewhere. Well actually many of the cars are pried from museums or locked rooms, some the first time since wining championships decades ago. Every year is special.

Featured marque Maserati filled their tent with significant and beautiful race, street, and show cars. Being the Historic Races, they also rolled several of them onto the race track for some hot laps. How often do you see that at a museum?

We watched a couple races for formula cars from the 50s through 80s near Lagua Seca's famous "Corkscrew." Sir Jack Brabham drove his World Championship Cooper at the Historics this year.

The paddock was full of interesting cars from Talbot, Porsche, Buggati, Alpine, Lotus, Elva, Maserati, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Mercedes Benz, OSCA, Shelby, Jaguar, Ford, Chevrolet, MG, Bentley, and many others.
